The Lighthouse Project, in cooperation with ING Bank, focuses on the prevention of child removal

The Tereza Maxová Foundation has been cooperating with ING Bank since 2006. For the last three years, the Lighthouse project has focused on children who are removed from their biological parents. According to a recent study by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in the Czech Republic, the number of children growing up outside their own family is steadily increasing. Over the last ten years it has been plus 14 percent, an increase of 3,500 children. In total, more than 28 000 children are placed outside their families in the Czech Republic. The most common reasons for removing children from their families are neglect due to lack of parental competence and the family’s unstable economic and housing situation.

We believe that poverty should not be a reason for removing a child from the family. That is why, for the third year, the Lighthouse Project is focusing on three main themes of child removal prevention – offering support in housing, financial literacy and parental employment. We support nearly 100 families each year. The Lighthouse project is presented in more detail by the director of the Tereza Maxová Foundation, Terezie Sverdlinová, in a new article on newstream.cz

We are honored that the Lighthouse Project is one of the selected projects for this year’s largest social sustainability conference, Good Company Circle 2024. The aim of the conference is to spark a society-wide dialogue about the future of our society, in which the interconnection of business, non-profit and public sectors plays a key role. The conference will take place on 10th October with the participation of the Minister of Finance Zbyněk Stanjura and a number of speakers from the business and non-profit spheres. The media partner is the business and lifestyle portal newstream.cz. If you are interested in social sustainability projects and want to support one of them with your voice, you can do so here.
