Mothers on the Run Campaign: One mother, one bag, one story

At the beginning of June, together with BigBoard Prague as part of the initiative Billboards help launched a powerful and important campaign Mothers on the run which draws attention to the painful reality of domestic violence. The campaign is based on authentic stories of women who have had to leave their homes to protect themselves and their children. Often with a single bag in hand, in fear and knowing that they are starting again – from scratch, but with hope.

Domestic violence is not a private problem. It is a societal failure that destroys the lives of thousands of women and children every year – quietly, behind closed doors. The Mothers on the Run campaign gives voice to those who have long been silenced, and reminds us that behind every number in the statistics is a real human story.

Like Lenka’s story: “When I decided to leave, I had ten minutes. I took my son’s stuffed animal, a couple of diapers, my papers and one sweatshirt. Everything fit in my backpack. I didn’t know where we were going, only that we had to leave. We’re safe today. And even though it’s hard, for the first time in years I’m not afraid to sleep.”
