Attorneys to Children’s Homes launch a new concept in Olomouc
With the support and at the premises of the Faculty of Law of Palacký University in Olomouc, another discussion within the project “Attorneys to Children’s Homes” took place on June 12.
The new format addressed the needs and questions from the practice of the participating children’s homes. The project organized by The Czech Bar Association in cooperation with the Tereza Maxová Foundation and the “To dáš!” project, has now moved into the next phase.
The discussion focused on specific examples and practical situations that the staff of children’s homes or the children themselves are currently dealing with.
“Returning to Olomouc, where we started the project, feels symbolic to us. Thanks to the excellent cooperation with the Tereza Maxová Foundation and the Palacký University Faculty of Law, we have succeeded in creating a stronger foundation for this project, which we want to help children to better navigate the complex world of law,” said Michala Plachká, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the CBA, who is in charge of the Attorneys to Children’s Homes project together with Ondřej Trubach, Vice-Chair of the CBA, and Pavel Kroupa, a member of the CBA Board of Directors.
The discussion focused on family law, social security and other issues that home workers deal with daily. “It is important that we can offer concrete examples and solutions that have a real impact on the lives of these children,” said Jindra Machačová from the Tereza Maxová Foundation for Children. “This approach allows participants to apply what they learned and to better understand the legal issues they encounter,” added her colleague Petra Visscher, who is also personally involved in the organisation of the project at the Tereza Maxová Foundation.
Renáta Šínová, an expert in family law who, together with Michaela Sigmundová, was at the origin of the idea for legal assistance to children from children’s homes, provided excellent professional support. Lenka Westphalová accompanied them to guide the participants through the most convoluted alleys of the public law aspects of their problems.
We look forward to further discussions and great cooperation!
