4 June is the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression

The International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression falls annually on 4 June. This day reminds us that even today there are millions of children whose childhoods are marked by violence, conflict and abuse. Whether it is armed clashes, domestic violence or other forms of aggression, the effects on children’s psyche and development tend to be profound and long-lasting.

Every day at the Tereza Maxová Foundation we encounter stories of children who need safety, support and a chance to find trust in adults again. We have long been working with Children’s Crisis Centre on the Journey from Hell project, which helps abused children overcome trauma and return to a full childhood. We also support CCC’s educational comics, which explain to children in clear terms how to recognise violence and where to seek help.

The commemoration of this day is a commitment to us: to strive for a world where no child has to live in fear.

Thank you to all those who stand with the children and help them find safety and hope again.
